Annual Klaveness Forum 2016

Market insight is crucial in a volatile and cyclical industry. It was therefore with great pleasure we welcomed our customers and partners to an arena for sharing of insights and fruitful discussions in London last week. The Annual Klaveness Forum took place at the Corinthia Hotel in London on December 6th with more than 100 participants, representing ship owners, charterers, brokers and financiers.

Opening the forum was Head of Klaveness Research Peter Lindström who presented key drivers for dry bulk freight in 2016 and 2017, followed by a panel debate moderated by John Kearsey (SSY) where Lindström (Klaveness), Aristides Pittas (Euroseas) and Jeremy Palin (Arrow) were engaged as panelists.

The panel debate moderated by Kearsey was followed by Martin Stopford’s presentation on the cyclicality of the industry, lessons learned from previous crises, and on how future winners will be those who are able to adapt to a new digital reality.  In our blog, Lindström has provided a recap of the main takeaways from his presentation and the debate led by Kearsey. Get the highlights from this week’s blog post; why 2017 looks positive for the dry bulk market.
