Vacancy in Oslo: DevOps Engineer - Klaveness Digital

DevOps Engineer - Klaveness Digital

Shaping the future of shipping and logistics

We are on a quest to build resilient, decarbonized, and cost-effective supply chains, and are now seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our tech team. Together we want to have a positive impact on the world we live in, helping global companies reduce costs, risks and CO2 emissions related to their shipping activities.

Who are we
Klaveness Digital is a Norwegian technology company on a mission to bring shipping and logistics into the future through our SaaS solution, CargoValue. CargoValue is a cloud-based platform that provides industrial companies with a digital twin of their seaborne supply chains, improving supply chain management by delivering real-time visibility, improving transparency, and fostering collaboration between stakeholders involved in the planning, scheduling, and production processes.

About the role:
We are looking for a skilled developer with deep expertise in operational tools and services (DevOps), to join our dynamic development team. In this role you have the unique opportunity to craft and implement innovative solutions that will help the shipping industry make a successful transition into the digital age. Your focus on creating efficient and effective tools and services will be instrumental in advancing our organization's goals and objectives.

Your main responsibility will be to contribute to our DevOps field. More specifically this means improving, managing, and developing:

  • Our multi- tenant Kubernetes cluster(s)

  • Monitoring and logging strategies and systems

  • Deployment processes and strategies

  • Our Azure integrations and infrastructure partner relation

It is expected that you collect and build knowledge within your field. You will be instrumental in defining our relation to our infrastructure partner(s) and build routines that enables the team to operate our data platform and services as effortless as possible.

Klaveness Digital work and act as a start-up, therefore you will be entitled and trusted with a wide range of tasks. Developing, managing, architecting, and coding will be part of your daily routine and traditional specifications are nowhere to be found.

How we work:
The Klaveness Digital team is technology agnostic, but fancy functional versus OOP, open over closed source, managed cloud services over ‘bare metal’ and keeps testing and security close to our heart. We utilize a range of different languages, frameworks, and tools. Some examples are React, Redux and the obvious HTML/CSS/JavaScript trio. Microservices are mostly written in Scala by using libraries such as http4s, doobie and cats-effects (No worries, we will teach you). All services and processes are deployed to one of our cloud-based Kubernetes clusters by the developers via GitLab pipelines.

The team process is modern. We pick and choose from the methodologies that fit our problems and team size. We run sprints, stand-up and retros as we speak, but we are continuously bending the format. The process may not look like the same next month. The most important to us is that the process methodology is not generating a large overhead and that there are plenty of room for feedback from team members.

This might be you:

  • Have a drive to develop your current skills, and acquire new

  • Good communication skills, ability to communicate with the development team as well as with the commercial team

  • Passion for improving and establishing development and operational processes

  • Experience with centralized logging and metric-based monitoring

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with working with continuous delivery pipelines

  • Bonus: BSc., MSc. or solid experience within the relevant field

We offer:

  • You will be a part of a highly skilled, inspiring, and supportive team, and work in an environment that encourages long term personal growth. Flexibility and trust are highly valued in our work environment.

  • We believe in a healthy work-life balance. Not only do we feel that it increases our productivity, but it also makes our jobs more enjoyable. We offer flexibility to achieve just that.

  • The opportunity to have real impact, both within the industry and on product development.

  • A competitive compensation package

  • We have a cabin at Hafjell which is great for skiing, and a house in Spain great for relaxing

  • A great cantina and really good coffee
